Gino Rea is hoping that the familiarity of racing in his home Silverstone round will coincide with a change of luck for the Gresini Racing Moto2 rookie.

Rea has scored just one point from the first five rounds, but has had a change of chassis - from Moriwaki to Suter - to adapt to and been taken out of the last two races.

"In Catalunya we had more bad luck. I was taken out by another rider's crash at turn one after I had made a good start," said the former World Supersport race winner. "We really needed the track time in the race to get more feedback on the new forks and unfortunately I was unable to restart the race.

"I am really excited for Silverstone. Of course we never know what the weather will do in England but I'd like to have some dry time to develop our bike and get it working how I want. It will be great to compete in my first home GP with support from the British fans!

"Silverstone is a circuit I like and it's the first circuit this year that I have raced at before, I scored my first podium position in World Supersport there.

"It will be good to be able to push the bike hard in the first session instead of having to learn the circuit first, then we can get the development with the bike underway from the start of the weekend. I hope all of the bad luck is out of the way now, I can't wait to get to the circuit!"
