'Hopefully I’ll make the grid!' - Crutchlow

"It's nice to come back to the British Grand Prix – hopefully I'll make the grid this time!” - Cal Crutchlow.
As expectations rise for what Cal Crutchlow can achieve in front of his home fans in this weekend's British MotoGP, the Englishman has pointed out it'd be nice just to make the grid after what happened last year.

The Tech 3 Yamaha rider was denied a place in the 2011 Silverstone race after breaking his collarbone in qualifying. He returns holding fifth in the championship, including two fourth-places on the new 1000cc M1.

“It's nice to come here in not so bad form. The worst finish we've had this year is an eighth at Le Mans, after crashing. Last year I would have bought an eighth place!

“We've been battling near the podium, albeit not so close to the front all the time. But it's nice to come back to the British Grand Prix – hopefully I'll make the grid this time!”

Crutchlow also gave an update on his condition following a heavy fall in the recent Barcelona test:

“I'm a little bit sore still," he said. "I struggled to breathe the week after; I think it was just the bruising and a bit of swelling. I have resumed training as usual, and I should be alright.”

A former World Superbike winner at Silverstone, Crutchlow - like most riders - is a fan of the legendary Northamptonshire circuit.

"Silverstone is one of the homes of motorsport. I remember watching Sheene, Roberts and those guys racing here back in the day, from videos. It's great that it's my home race," said Crutchlow. "Hopefully we can do a good job for the fans."
