Heavy spill for Crutchlow at Silverstone

Heavy spill for home hero Cal Crutchlow in final practice at Silverstone MotoGP.
Home hero Cal Crutchlow is undergoing medical checks after suffering a big fall early in Saturday's final practice for the British MotoGP at Silverstone.

The Yamaha Tech 3 rider lost the front of his M1 through the fast left-hander onto the Hangar Straight and tumbled roughly to a halt. He was yet to record a lap time.

Cold, windy conditions and spots of rain have led to treacherous track conditions this morning. Stefan Bradl fell at around the same time, and also went for medical checks, while Valentino Rossi ran off track following a near lowside under braking.

Nevertheless, some riders - including Rossi - have already set their fastest lap of the weekend with over half of the 45-minute the session still to go.

Crutchlow was forced to withdraw from last year's British MotoGP after breaking his collarbone in qualifying.

UPDATE: No official statement as of the end of the session, but Crutchlow is being examined for a possible ankle fracture and Bradl a finger injury.

Even before this crash I was worried regarding Cal's driving style. He is clearly pushing over his limits riding this bike something like Super Sic was doing with his Honda last year. Hope he has a speedy recovery and can find the balance between speed and safety!
