Maverick Vinales takes his third successive pole position start ahead of Efren Vazquez and Alexis Masbou, Danny Kent to start home race from fifth.

Maverick Vinales took his third Moto3 pole in a row, during Saturday's qualifying for the British Grand Prix.

Late traffic all around the Silverstone track did nothing to dent the 2:16.187 lap that Blusens Avintia rider Maverick Vinales set with nine minutes to go.

There was virtually no movement on the time sheets in the closing minutes as the riders got in each others way instead of improving. This meant Efren Vazquez on the JHK T-Shirt Laglisse FTR Honda and Caretta Technology rider Alexis Masbou also held on to second and third respectively, completing the front row.

German Sandro Cortese was promoted up from fifth to fourth for the Red Bull KTM Ajo team when Louis Salom was demoted down to sixth when his final lap was cancelled, he got in Vinales way aboard his RW Racing GP bike and was judged to have run wide in doing so and was penalised. This also benefited Cortese's team mate Briton Danny Kent who moved up to fifth.

Louis Rossi qualifies seventh for Racing Team Germany and FTR Honda, he is joined on the third row by Zulfahmi Khairuddin for the AirAsia-Sic-Ajo KTM team in eighth and Team Italia FMI's rookie Romano Fenati in ninth, who has qualified strongly at another new circuit for him.

Spaniard Alex Rins completes the top ten for Estrella Gallacia 0,0 and Suter Honda, his Portuguese team mate was Miguel Oliveira was 11th.

The weather at the start of qualifying was windy, but with dark clouds over the track threatening rain all the riders got out of pit lane early, almost racing each other to set times as security if the weather worsened, with Vazquez, Vinales and Masbou as the early contenders for the fastest lap. They then continued to be the lead qualifiers for the remainder of the session.

After the first fifteen minutes the weather nerves settled and the majority pitted to work on their set up for the conditions resulting in the traffic in the closing minutes.

Along with Luis Salom, Race direction also cancelled laps for Finsterbusch, Miller, Ajo, Faubel, McPhee and Isaac Vinales as they were deemed to have run off the limits of the track.

British rider Danny Webb qualified 21st on the Mahindra despite the promise shown in the practice sessions, while wild-card rider John McPhee qualified 29th after having the lap which qualified him in 27th cancelled.

His fellow wild-card and Racing Steps Foundation team mate Fraser Rogers finished the session 33rd despite a crash aboard the KRP Honda.
