Pedrosa leads warm-up at Assen

Dani Pedrosa fastest during warm-up for the Dutch MotoGP at Assen.
A sunny warm-up session ahead of this afternoon's Dutch MotoGP at Assen ended with the top four riders covered by just 0.098s.

Yamaha's MotoGP title leader Jorge Lorenzo led most of the 20-minutes, but was edged out by fellow front row start Dani Pedrosa on his twelfth and final lap.

Pedrosa closed the session 0.032s ahead of Lorenzo, with Pedrosa's Repsol Honda team-mate and pole sitter Casey Stoner just 0.045s from the top in third.

Cal Crutchlow was the leading satellite rider for most of warm-up, but Tech 3 Yamaha team-mate Andrea Dovizioso beat the Englishman in the closing stages with a best lap just 0.098s from Pedrosa.

Crutchlow was nevertheless only 0.106s from Pedrosa, with defending Assen winner and fellow second row starter Ben Spies (Factory Yamaha) 0.186s from the top in sixth.

Rookie Stefan Bradl, who will start from a MotoGP best of fourth, lapped 0.363s from Pedrosa for seventh, with Hector Barbera (Ducati), Alvaro Bautista (Honda) and Nicky Hayden (Ducati) completing a top ten covered by 0.698s.

Another gap then followed to Hayden's team-mate Valentino Rossi, who managed only eleventh place, 1.106s from Pedrosa.

Aspar Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro was exactly 0.6s from Rossi to be the top CRT by a mere 0.011s from team-mate Randy de Puniet.

The injured Karel Abraham was 14th and slowest of the manufacturer bikes as he struggles with his healing hand injury.

Colin Edwards, who came within a corner of victory in the 2006 race, was 21st and last for the third track session in a row.
