Dejected Bradl apologises to team, says 'I blew it'

30 June 2012

A bitterly disappointed Stefan Bradl was making no excuses after his race at Assen today ended on the second lap when he crashed under 'aggressive' braking.

The current Moto2 world champion was full of optimism for the Dutch TT after qualifying in a stunning fourth place on row two, but has vowed to learn from his mistakes after failing to finish a race for the first time in his rookie season in motorcycling's top tier competition.

“Well I do not have so much to say. Yesterday we obtained a very good grid position and today I took another good start,” Bradl said.

“In the first laps the feeling with the bike was great and I could easily close the little gap to [Ben] Spies.

“I do not remember last time I had such a good feeling in the first laps but I have to be honest… Probably I was too much aggressive in braking into turn 10 and I crashed,” he added.

“It's my mistake and I am very sorry for the guys – today we could get a very positive result.

“Now I want to learn from my mistakes making another step forward ahead my home race,” Bradl said.

“The potential is there and we are capable to race with the top riders”.
