Factory Yamaha rider Ben Spies is hoping that the German MotoGP at Sachsenring could finally see a trouble-free 2012 weekend.
The Texan, just tenth in the championship after seven rounds, suffered accidents, technical problems and incidents in the opening five races - then dropped from the podium with tyre issues at the last two rounds.
Last Saturday's Assen round saw Spies denied third on the very final lap, having lost 'chunks' of rubber from his rear tyre.
“We're really hoping our bad luck is over now and we can realize our full potential this weekend,” he said.
“I'm feeling really confident with the bike and the team has been delivering a great set up for me so we know we can fight at the front.
“A weekend without any issues would be great so we can just focus on riding the bike!”
Spies managed eighth on his first visit to the Sachsenring, with Tech 3 Yamaha, in 2010 and finished fifth last year.
