The reigning Moto2 champion arrives at his 'special' home race after a bittersweet Dutch round at Assen, where he qualified a season-best fourth but then fell early in the race, marking his first non-score of the season.

"Doubtless this weekend will be very special for me," said the Honda LCR rider, who finished a close runner-up to Marc Marquez in last year's Moto2 race. "My family, my friends and my fans will be there to support me and this makes me more motivated ahead the race.

"I am looking forward to this weekend because the crowd will be unbelievable. The track is a bit too small for a MotoGP bike, but there are some good parts especially the last one. After the last race in Assen we know we are capable to find with the second group and this remains our target for the next races including Sachsenring."

Bradl will start round eight holding ninth in the championship, but within ten points of sixth place Valentino Rossi.

Alex Hofmann was the last German rider to participate in his home grand prix.
