Saturday's final free practice for the German MotoGP at the Sachsenring ended with a CRT one-two.

But it was far from a normal session, light rain falling for much of the 45-minutes, before the track dried in the closing stages, when Michele Pirro and Mattia Pasini used slick tyres to move ahead of wet-tyre leader Nicky Hayden.

Gresini Honda rider Pirro only rode for four laps, and Speed Master ART competitor Pasini (who collided with a mechanic in pit-lane yesterday) nine laps.

Pirro's lap time - 0.9s ahead of Pasini - was almost ten-seconds from dry record pace, but the information gathered might prove useful in the event of a flag-to-flag race on Sunday.

Factory Ducati rider Hayden had led from the 26th to 46th minute, with Yamaha Tech 3's Andrea Dovizioso fastest during the first part of the slippery session on his way to an eventual fourth.

Those not gracing the circuit this morning were joint title leaders Jorge Lorenzo and Casey Stoner, plus Tech 3's Cal Crutchlow.

Friday pace setter Dani Pedrosa recorded the twelfth fastest lap time, from eight laps on his Repsol Honda. HRC's Twitter feed summed-up the session as: "Not dry. Not wet. Waste of time."

Qualifying takes place this afternoon.
