Just days after announcing that Toni Elias would again stand-in for the injured Hector Barbera at Indianapolis this weekend, Pramac Ducati has now announced that Barbera will try to ride.

Barbera broke his left tibia and fibula in mid-July and was replaced by Elias at the following Laguna Seca round.

However Pramac states that Barbera has made 'considerable progress' in recent days and will thus attempt a comeback this weekend, with Elias also present and ready to step-in if needed.

Former MotoGP race winner Elias, who split from the Aspar Moto2 team after Mugello, qualified 17th at Laguna Seca then crashed out early in the race.

Barbera, who claimed his first ever MotoGP front-row start at Mugello, is eleventh in the championship with a best race finish of seventh on the original 'Valencia-spec' version of the GP12.

Barbera is yet to sign for 2013, while former Moto2 champion Elias is linked with numerous 600cc seats.
