Indianapolis Motor Speedway has confirmed that it will keep its place on the 2013 MotoGP calendar.

Both Indianapolis and fellow US venue Laguna Seca have a contract until 2014, but doubt has been cast by the proposed event at Austin, Texas, which is theoretically due to join the MotoGP schedule next season.

A mid-August date is again expected for the 2013 Indianapolis round.

"Following a successful weekend of MotoGP racing, I'm very pleased that we will be returning to this iconic venue next year," said Carmelo Ezpeleta, Dorna CEO.

"Steeped in racing history, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is an ideal track to not only host some of the best racing in the world but to also provide fans with an experience they won't forget."

Dani Pedrosa (Honda) won Sunday's race from fellow Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha).

Home star Ben Spies retired from second place after a massive engine failure, while countryman Nicky Hayden missed the race after being one of three riders to suffer a big fall in qualifying on the notoriously slippery infield asphalt.
