The injuries that forced Nicky Hayden to miss Sunday's Indianapolis MotoGP could also force the Ducati rider to sit out next weekend's Czech Republic round.

Hayden suffered a hard blow to the head and two small fractures to the second and third metacarpals of his right hand during a big qualifying fall (pictured) and was declared unfit to race.

The American returned to Indianapolis Motor Speedway to watch Sunday's grand prix from the team garage.

"To miss any race is not fun. But to miss my home race is just bull,” he said. “Especially after we had worked this weekend and improved the bike a bit. It's tough. The main thing is I'm more or less OK.

“A broken hand and a pretty severe concussion's not OK, but that was a pretty big one, a little bit scary. I'm happy to be able to at least come in here today and support the race and see things."

"It's going to be tough. We're on the track in four days," Hayden said of his chances of riding at Brno. "The hand, the metacarpal, I broke two and three.

“They're clean breaks all the way through and don't need surgery at the moment, but they're worried if I try to go riding with the pressure these bikes put on it and they're not healed enough, I could displace them which is not good.

“It's a bit of a problem, but we'll just evaluate things tomorrow. Hopefully we'll know something by Tuesday.”
