Capirossi back on track for multi-bike Brno test
23 August 2012
Loris Capirossi will ride his first MotoGP laps since retirement during Monday's Brno test.
The 39-year-old, who now works as a MotoGP Safety Advisor, is set to try a variety of machines ranging from the Honda and Yamaha prototypes to some CRT bikes. Ducati is testing at Misano next week.
"It's a great opportunity for me as I've been wanting to test the new 1000cc bikes for a while now," the official MotoGP website quotes Capirossi as saying.
“It's important for me to understand how the current crop of MotoG bikes work, to better understand the feedback I get from the riders but also in my work with Bridgestone, following the development of new tyre specifications - so I believe this experience will be important towards future developments in the MotoGP class."
Capirossi concluded a record 22-year grand prix career at Valencia last November, which was his 328th World Championship race and the last event of the 800cc era.
The Italian won two 125cc titles, one 250cc crown and nine races in the premier 500cc/MotoGP class, where he raced for Yamaha, Honda, Ducati and Suzuki.
