Thomas Luthi set the fastest lap time during Friday afternoon practice for the Czech Republic Moto2 Grand Prix at Brno, despite missing the final part of the session due to a fall.

The Interwetten rider had just taken over from Alex de Angelis (FTR) when he lowsided with 15 minutes remaining.

The Swiss rider's Suter was too badly damaged to continue, but he remained on top to the end, thanks partially to a fastest lap time by Scott Redding being cancelled for slightly cutting the turn two kink, leaving the Englishman in third for Marc VDS (Kalex).

However it was title contender Pol Espargaro who was credited with the overall fastest time of the day, set during the morning session, which he finished 0.167s ahead of Luthi.

Pons Kalex rider Espargaro was fifth quickest this afternoon (+0.350s), just behind Ioda's Simone Corsi, who made it two FTRs in the top four.

Championship leader Marc Marquez, 39 points clear of Espargaro after his fifth victory of the season last Sunday at Indianapolis, sixth in both sessions for CatalunyaCaixa (Suter).

Fellow multiple 2012 race winner Andrea Iannone was seventh for Speed Up this afternoon, with Claudio Corti eighth for Italrans and Gino Rea an improved ninth for Gresini Suter at a track he won at in WSS.

At the other end of the field, QMMF's lady racer Elena Rosell has joined team-mate Anthony West in switching to a Speed Up chassis this weekend, meaning there are no more Moriwakis present on the grid.
