MOTOGP » Crutchlow had Suzuki, Honda offers

"A proposal came from a manufacturer that is planning on coming back" - Cal Crutchlow.
Crutchlow had Suzuki, Honda offers
Cal Crutchlow, who signed a new one-year contract with Tech 3 Yamaha this morning, was also approached by Suzuki and Honda for 2013.

The Englishman was known to have been in talks with Yamaha and Ducati - but has revealed that other manufacturers were also chasing his signature.

"I had several offers on the table, three or four manufacturers,” GPone.com quotes Crutchlow as saying.

Given that there are only three manufacturers in MotoGP - the Honda offer was in form of a satellite Gresini ride - Crutchlow clarified:

"No mistake - a proposal came from a manufacturer that is planning on coming back."

It is not difficult to deduce that the returning manufacturer would have been Suzuki, which quit MotoGP at the end of last season but has insisted it will return by 2014.

Departing factory Yamaha ride Ben Spies has also been linked with the Suzuki project, although paddock speculation at Brno suggests he could be interested in the Gresini ride currently occupied by Alvaro Bautista.

The Gresini RC213V is the only Honda still available for next season.

Crutchlow will be targeting a debut MotoGP rostrum after qualifying a career-best second on the grid for Sunday's Czech Republic Grand Prix.

He credited a big push by Yamaha for keeping him at Tech 3 for a third year, where he will ride alongside rookie Bradley Smith.
