Spies leads a wet warm-up at Brno

Ben Spies fastest during warm-up for the Czech Republic MotoGP at Brno.
Ben Spies set the pace during a wet warm-up session for the Czech Republic Grand Prix.

After four dry track sessions heavy overnight rain soaked the Brno circuit, although god grip levels meant that Spies' best lap was within eleven seconds of Factory Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo dry pole time.

Spies, Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa, Andrea Dovizioso, Valentino Rossi and Stefan Bradl all took turns at the top during the 20-minute session, with Spies' best lap time of 2m 6.906s coming on his ninth and final lap.

The Texan, who will start from fourth on the grid, lapped 0.240s ahead of Pedrosa's Repsol Honda, with Rossi's Ducati 0.339s from the top.

Title leader Lorenzo circulated 0.456s slower than Spies with Techb3's Dovizioso and Honda LCR's Bradl the final riders within one-second of the top.

Conditions improved during the session and weather forecasts suggest a dry race this afternoon.
