Suter confirms Petrucci switch

"Colin was looking for new motivation, but after riding the ART bike he saw there was nothing magic” - Eskil Suter.
Eskil Suter has confirmed the continuation of Forward Racing with the Suter-BMW CRT machine - and that a second bike will be present at the forthcoming Misano round, run by IodaRacing for Danilo Petrucci.

Frustrated by unpredictable electronics, Forward's Colin Edwards called the bike a 'piece of sh*t' on the eve of his home US round in July - and recently tested an ART Aprilia.

But no deal with Aprilia was reached and Suter has confirmed that the Texan will stick with his present machinery to the end of the year. Edwards has taken a best finish of twelfth this season and is 17th in the World Championship.

"Colin was looking for new motivation, but after riding the ART bike he saw there was nothing magic,” Suter told “We are in a way re-starting the relationship with Colin, aiming to make progress step-by-step."

Also starting a new Suter relationship at Misano will be Ioda and its rookie rider Petrucci.

Ioda have raced with their own CRT design, utilising a 'standard' Aprilia RSV4 engine, so far this year - but have faced a near 40km/h top speed disadvantage.

Petrucci had been tipped to test for Ducati at Mugello this week, but will instead make his Suter-BMW debut at the Vairano circuit on Wednesday.

Moto2 rider Dominique Aegerter helped Suter with development of the machine on Tuesday.

The San Marino Grand Prix takes place from September 14-16.
