Pedrosa expects to provide stronger Misano challenge

"We need to continue working in the same way, focusing on our bike's performance and my riding to keep reducing the gap in the Championship" - Dani Pedrosa.
Dani Pedrosa is hoping that work done during the recent Brno and Aragon tests will help him overturn MotoGP title rival Jorge Lorenzo's dominant advantage in last year's Misano round.

Yamaha rider Lorenzo, who holds a reduced 13-point over Pedrosa, won last year's San Marino Grand Prix by 7.3s from Repsol Honda rider Pedrosa.

Lorenzo, who has finished no lower than second in the races he has completed this year, has also finished no worse than runner-up in his four Misano MotoGP appearances.

But momentum is with Pedrosa, winner of the last two rounds, heading into the 2012 event. The Spaniard is also confident that his new 1000cc RCV will be better suited to the bumpy Misano circuit.

“Misano is a tricky track, quite bumpy, with a lot of braking and accelerations,” said Pedrosa. “The grip level is always a challenge, because it changes a lot from the morning sessions to the afternoon.

“In the past, our bike has been quite unstable there, but I believe this year we have improved that.

“I hope the work we have done in the Brno and Aragon tests with suspension and electronics, can help us to start the weekend strong in Misano.

“We need to continue working in the same way, focusing on our bike's performance and my riding to keep reducing the gap in the Championship".

Jonathan Rea will be riding alongside Pedrosa, in place of the injured Casey Stoner.

Everyone keeps saying that this is a Yamaha track, but as I recall correctly, Dani won here in 2010. It can be anybodys game at this point. Dani is strong and confident, but Jorge will not give up without a fight. My money is on Dani, but only slightly. Cant wait. Three weeks is way too long.
