Crutchlow: No new parts to help Lorenzo

15 September 2012

Cal Crutchlow emphatically denied that he has been given any new parts from Yamaha, in order to assist Jorge Lorenzo's MotoGP title hopes.

Satellite Tech 3 rider Crutchlow, who recently re-signed for 2013, will start alongside factory M1 star Lorenzo and Honda title rival Dani Pedrosa on the front row of Sunday's San Marino Grand Prix.

“I wish! No, there is absolutely no truth in that rumour at all,” said Crutchlow, who celebrated his first MotoGP podium last time at Brno.

“Maybe some parts will come from [Yamaha] in the future, but it won't be to say 'go and help Lorenzo for the championship'.”

Crutchlow's comments fit in with Yamaha's long standing stance on team orders:

"We've never given official team orders and have no plans to do so," a Factory Yamaha team spokesman told Crash.net last year, when asked if Ben Spies would help team-mate Lorenzo.

Lorenzo leads Pedrosa by 13-points with six rounds to go in this year's championship.

Crutchlow is fifth in the standings and 28 points behind team-mate Andrea Dovizioso, who will start seventh on Sunday's grid.
