FIM statement on Bridgepoint announcement

"...We shall then be able to adapt the regulations to ensure that they have a distinct identity in future" - Vito Ippolito, FIM President.
The FIM, governing body of the MotoGP and World Superbike Championships, has released the following statement regarding the 'joining' of the respective commercial rights holders - Dorna and Infront - under a single umbrella organisation.

Private equity group Bridgepoint now controls both Dorna and Infront.

The FIM statement is supportive of the move, and also confirms that changes will be made to create more of a separation between the prototype (MotoGP) and production-based (WSBK) championships.

'The FIM has taken due note of Bridgepoint's announcement that it is reorganising its motor sport interests by bringing MotoGP and World Superbikes together under one umbrella organisation.

'The FIM President Vito Ippolito said of the reorganisation: "I welcome Bridgepoint's decision to bring the two championships together within a single organisation. We shall shortly be holding a meeting of all of the stakeholders in order to reposition the two championships and look into the technical and operational implications. We shall then be able to adapt the regulations to ensure that they have a distinct identity in future."'

Honda, Yamaha and Ducati should start their own series ASAP. They should also invite other manufacturers like BMW, Kawasaki et al to join. Dorna and Spaz-leta will destroy motorcycle racing at the altar of profits in no time.
