French rider Louis Rossi has signed a deal with the Tech 3 Racing team to compete in Moto2 in 2013.

Rossi contested the 125cc class in 2010 and 2011 before switching to the new Moto3 series this year.

The 23-year-old, riding for Racing Team Germany, is currently 13th in the championship standings but remains in contention to finish in the top six overall, with just 15 points separating him from British rider Danny Kent in sixth.

Rossi claimed his maiden victory at his home race at Le Mans in May and has qualified on the front row twice this season.

He has also finished in the top ten on four occasions.

Team boss Herve Poncharal, who has a record of nurturing young French talent having previously worked with Olivier Jacque, Sylvain Guintoli and Mike di Meglio, feels Rossi has a bright future ahead of him.

"I am delighted that Louis has decided to commit his future to Tech 3 Racing Moto2 Team," he said.

"I have monitored him very closely and he is a rider with great potential who I am really looking forward to helping take the next step in his career.

"I am confident the combination of Louis and the Tech 3 Racing's Mistral 610 project will be a formidable one in 2013."
