The Power Electronics Aspar team has announced its rider line-up for the 2013 MotoGP season.
Team principal Jorge Martinez 'Aspar' has achieved his goal of retaining the CRT leading duo of Randy de Puniet
and Aleix Espargaro on the Power Electronics backed Aprilia ART machines.
MotoGP podium finisher de Puniet currently leads Espargaro by just two points in the battle for twelfth place and the leading Privateer rider.
The next best CRT rider is Yonny Hernandez (Avintia), in 15th, who has scored just over half of de Puniet's 53 points.
From the 14 rounds so far held, de Puniet has been classified as the leading CRT on five occasions, and Espargaro six. Both have signed a new one-year deal with Aspar.
"We are delighted to be able to confirm both Aleix Espargaró and Randy De Puniet for next season,” said team owner Aspar.
“Aleix started the season a little behind Randy but with the right system and a lot of hard work he is now at an outstanding level, both in terms of the technical aspect and his riding.
"He has improved a lot and we are all very happy with that. All I am asking him is to keep going like this because I think he has the potential to continue developing and growing in the future.
“Randy is having a very strong season. Thanks also to him the Power Electronics Aspar Team is the reference point in the new concept of MotoGP.
"Randy has proven his expertise at MotoGP level and every other category he has raced in and I am very happy to continue with such a solid project.
"I hope that with these two riders in place the team can continue to move forward."
de Puniet - who has also scored the highest race results so far for CRT, with two eighth places - admits he has one eye on the 2014 season, when predicted technical changes should bring the performance of the manufacturer and CRTs closer together.
“Even though the season is not yet over it has been a positive one for us and the best option for my future career is to stay where I am,” he said.
