Moto2: Simon to Italtrans

Julian Simon heading to Italtrans for 2013 Moto2 season
Italtrans has confirmed the signing of Julian Simon to ride its Kalex machinery alongside the retained Takaaki Nakagami for the 2013 Moto2 World Championship.

The news also means that former champion Toni Elias, who is to replace Claudio Corti at Italtrans for the final four rounds of this year, needs an alternative seat next season.

Simon, runner-up to Elias during the inaugural 2010 Moto2 season, is thus leaving Blusens Avintia - despite having reportedly been offered a CRT MotoGP chance by the team.

Avintia switched from FTR to Suter machinery early in the season, but Simon has taken just one podium finish and is said to have had his heart set on a Kalex for 2013.

Nakagami joined the 600cc class this year, following two seasons in 125cc racing. The Japanese is currently 15th in the championship, with the highlight of his season a fifth place at Jerez, from second on the grid.
