Crutchlow seals fourth successive front row start

“I'm actually a bit disappointed not to get my first pole position because I felt today was a good opportunity to get it,” he added.

“I was fast right from the start of the session and I felt much more confident with the hard rear tyre, so that is a big bonus for the race.”

The Coventry rider has yet to make a decision on his tyre choice for Sunday's race as he mulls over the pros and cons of the hard and soft rubber options.

“To be honest though I am not sure whether to race the hard or the soft rear tyre,” added Crutchlow.

“I haven't made a final decision yet and maybe I'll have to flip a coin.

“The pleasing aspect today is that I am not only fast but I'm also consistent, so hopefully I'll be in the podium fight tomorrow, which would be a great way to start this busy period to the end of the championship.”

One question mark that remains is over braking performance, with Crutchlow one of many to suffer from overheating this weekend.

“Yeah we have big problems. Not just me. Also Andrea, Ben, Vale and Nicky. Apparently they are the same," he said.

“It seems that if you are braking hard the temperature is getting too high and then the brakes are not working too well. We'll have to see for the race tomorrow.”

"Another battle with Dovi (and Spies) for P3?" Good God I hope not. I don't think I can take seeing another poor start from Cal and taking nearly the whole of the race trying to get by Dovi. I'd much rather see him put his quick pace to better use sticking with Lorenzo and Pedrosa. We shall soon see which one it will be.
