Avintia's Yonny Hernandez withdrew from the remainder of the Malaysian Grand Prix on Saturday morning – and has also ruled out riding in next weekend's Australian round.
The Columbian dislocated his left collarbone last Sunday in Japan and found the injury too painful in Friday practice at Sepang.
Hernandez will now head for Spain, where he is expected to undergo surgery in the next few days.
“It's a pity because we had been doing a good season but now things get complicated,” said Hernandez.
“On Friday I tried as hard as I could, but the pain I was feeling on the bike was just unbearable.
“I will definitely miss Australia, but I'll try to recover so I can be around [for the final round in] Valencia.”
Hernandez's absence means he is likely to lose third in the CRT standings to Michele Pirro, the Gresini rider being just two points behind heading into Sunday's race.
