The Malaysian MotoGP has been red flagged with seven laps remaining due to worsening weather conditions.
The race began on a fully wet track, and with rain still falling.
The rain then intensified around mid-distance, causing a number of riders to fall, with red flags finally waved on lap 14 of 20.
A delay followed while officials waited to see if the weather would improve enough for a restart, before the results were finally confirmed: Dani Pedrosa winning from Jorge Lorenzo and Casey Stoner.
Title rivals Lorenzo and Pedrosa had broken clear early in the race, with Pedrosa finally overtaking Lorenzo at the halfway mark and easing clear by 3.7s by lap 13.
Lorenzo - who began signalling for the race to be stopped - almost crashed when he lost the front of his Yamaha at the final hairpin, moments before the red flags.
Lorenzo just kept control but was only metres ahead of Pedrosa's Repsol Honda team-mate Stoner as he crossed the line for the start of lap 14.
With full points awarded for the shortened race, Pedrosa is now 23-points from Lorenzo with two rounds to go.
Ben Spies, Cal Crutchlow, Andrea Dovizioso are among the riders who had crashed before the stoppage, Spies injuring his shoulder.
