Rossi puts boot into 'boring' MotoGP
MotoGP icon Valentino Rossi has criticised the class as 'boring' and called for change to enhance the appeal of motorcycling's top tier championship.

The 33-year-old Ducati rider joked it was 'difficult to stay awake' during races as he pinpointed the 2012 season as the sport's lowest point in the 12 years since he joined the championship.

Rossi told BBC Sport: “They have to change a lot for the future. Now is the worst moment in MotoGP since I joined in 2000. It is the most boring moment. Races are quite bad."

This season, Factory Yamaha star Jorge Lorenzo and Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa have won 12 of the 16 races held so far between them.

Pedrosa's team-mate Casey Stoner is the only other rider to have won this year and Rossi believes steps need to be taken to ensure the class becomes more competitive.

Only three races this season have been won by less than one-second.

“Moto3 is very exciting, Moto2 is fantastic and then in MotoGP it is very difficult to stay awake!” he said.

“They have to change the product. The level is fantastic. The bikes are very fast, the riders are very fast, but it is 'too perfect'.”

Rossi, whose last victory was achieved in Malaysia in 2010, has endured a demoralising two-year association with Ducati and will switch back to Yamaha alongside Lorenzo in 2013.

“This is not the time in my career to be struggling every weekend like this,” he added.

“It will be difficult, but I think that I have the potential to win some races next year.”

Must be the reason Hayden is gaining more respect !
At least he "earns" his money even when he knows he isn't going to win !
