Nakasuga to replace Spies at Valencia

Katsuyuki Nakasuga to replace Ben Spies at Valencia MotoGP finale
Test rider Katsuyuki Nakasuga will replace injured Factory Yamaha star Ben Spies for the final round of the 2012 MotoGP Championship at Valencia in two weeks time.

Nakasuga took an impressive sixth place whilst substituting for Jorge Lorenzo at last year's damp Valencia Grand Prix. He was back on the MotoGP grid as a home wild-card for the recent Japanese round, where he finished in ninth place.

Spies is currently at home in the USA recovering from injuries sustained in Malaysia one week ago.

The Texan had surgery this week to repair torn ligament damage in the right shoulder and will need a recovery period of eight to ten weeks, ruling him out of a planned Pramac Ducati debut in the post-Valencia test session.

Valentino Rossi will take Spies' place alongside Lorenzo for 2013.
