Lorenzo ready to take more risks

8 November 2012

Having already secured the 2012 MotoGP title, Jorge Lorenzo is prepared to take more risks in pursuit of his seventh victory of the season in Sunday's season finale.

The Factory Yamaha star wrapped up his second premier-class title at Phillip Island, but knows he faces a tough contest this weekend from retiring champion Casey Stoner and 2012 runner-up Dani Pedrosa.

“My shoulders are lighter after winning the World Championship. Things are much easier, with less pressure,” said Lorenzo at Valencia on Thursday.

“I'd like to fight for the last win, but there are many competitors. Casey with the last race of his career, so for sure he'll want to finish it in the best way possible, and Dani will want to make up for the bad feeling he had at Phillip Island.”

Lorenzo and Pedrosa are both tied on six wins, but Lorenzo said he isn't too concerned with finishing the year top of the victory list

“This [most wins] statistic doesn't worry me much. I just want to win and for sure I will take more risks than in the last races,” he declared.

And with regards to the new track surface in Valencia he added: “For sure without bumps it's better to ride. You feel more comfortable and it's more fun. Until tomorrow we will not know if it is better, more or less grip than before. I'm excited to find out.”
