These are the first pictures of seven time MotoGP
champion Valentino Rossi
making his Yamaha return during the start of post-season testing at Valencia on Tuesday.
Rossi is heading back to Yamaha, with whom he won four of his premier-class titles, after two seasons without a race win at Ducati.
However bad weather at Valencia on Tuesday morning forced Rossi back to the pits after just two laps on the title winning 1000cc M1.
The Italian then spent the rest of the day on wet tyres, completing a total of 28 laps and was ranked sixth out of the 14 riders to record a lap time.
However, of the five ahead, all but former team-mate Hayden set their best before the rain arrived.
Testing at Valencia will conclude on Wednesday evening, but Yamaha are switching to Aragon - where a Superbike test is scheduled - in search of better weather for day two.
Yamaha won the 2012 MotoGP
title with Jorge Lorenzo, who was also Rossi's team-mate between 2008-2010. Lorenzo did not complete a lap on Tuesday.
As is usual when a factory rider changes teams, Rossi is unable to speak to the media or appear in Yamaha livery until his Ducati contract expires on December 31, 2012.CLICK HERE
