Moto2 world champion Marc Marquez was the last of the 2013 rookies to make his MotoGP debut, waiting until the final afternoon of the rain-hit Valencia test before riding his Repsol Honda (see below for further pictures).

It was only in the closing hours that track conditions improved enough to run slicks and Marquez wasted no time in getting up to speed, finishing his first run just 2.1s behind team-mate and fastest man Dani Pedrosa.

The 19-year-old Spaniard continued to improve with almost every passing lap, eventually finishing the test in seventh place and just 1.081s behind Pedrosa after 28 laps. Pedrosa continued to lead, setting a best time below the official race lap record.

Marquez, a winner of 26 races and two world titles in the smaller grand prix classes, is taking over Casey Stoner's place at the factory Honda team, alongside this year's title runner-up Pedrosa.

Marquez is one of three Moto2 riders moving up to the premier-class.

Andrea Iannone, who had previously tested for Ducati, finished the test in ninth (+1.511s) for Pramac Ducati, with Bradley Smith eleventh (+2.216s) for Monster Yamaha Tech 3.
