Edwards pleased with FTR-Kawasaki

Colin Edwards pleased with FTR-Kawasaki package.
Colin Edwards may have only completed 20 wet laps on the FTR-Kawasaki at the Valencia MotoGP test, but that was enough to convince the Forward Racing rider that he's in for a better 2013 season.

Edwards scored points on eight occasions on his way to 20th in the standings with this year's Suter-BMW, the best result being eleventh at Misano.

The Texan could barely disguise his dislike of the bike and was talking of a change from mid-season onwards. That will finally happen for 2013, when the Forward team will join Avintia Blusens in running the FTR-Kawasaki CRT package.

“Yesterday we had terrible conditions and did 20 laps in the rain,” said Edwards, who did not ride on the damp final day of testing.

“The feeling is really good; I think I went a second and a half faster than this past weekend in the same conditions. It just feels more relaxed with a bigger bike, the inputs on the bike make a difference.

“I am really happy and excited to collaborate with Marc Taylor from FTR, it's going to be a good venture; I'm excited about it. The FTR guys are really keen.

“As far as the engine power, it feels good, good off the turns, it's a different character but I think that as far as the race bike it's the right character engine wise. I look forward to it.”

Forward will expand to two riders next season, with young Italian Claudio Corti on the other side of the garage. Corti, who made his MotoGP debut on an Inmotec-Kawasaki in Sunday's Valencia finale, rode both the Suter-BMW and FTR-Kawasaki at the test.

“Generally speaking I am very happy because I have started to understand the differences between the three bikes I have tested these last few days,” said Corti.

CRT - Unregistered

@ cammyspop, Then they have no business being in MotoGP. If a CRT outfit cannot afford to run a WSBK team, they don't belong in Moto GP. This is the premier class of motorcycle racing, not a local club event. The current state of the CRT project is a joke, and the results show it. It hasn't been more entertaining having them on the grid. Give them more freedom or get rid of them.
