Moto3: Cortese gets title bike during championship celebration
Inaugural Moto3 world champion Sandro Cortese received a hero's welcome on his return to Berkheim in Germany.

The town swelled in size from 2,500 to 10,000 for the victory party, which saw KTM's Head of Motorsport Pit Beirer and Red Bull KTM Ajo team boss Aki Ajo present Cortese with the bike he rode to title glory.

In keeping with the 'need for speed' theme, the Red Bull Abt Sportsline Team from the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) were present, bringing with them an Audi DTM car driven by Mathias Ekstroem - with Cortese as co-driver - to parade him through his home town.

Pilot Uwe Dolderer of the Red Bull Flying Bulls was on hand to deliver a spectacular air show, with MotoGP rider and friend Stefan Bradl appearing on stage to congratulate Cortese.

Cortese is moving up to Moto2 next year, where he will ride for the Intact Kalex team.

Well done young man, with the emphasis on man. I think his win is somewhat devalued due to the fact he is a lot older than his young competitors who are hardly more than boys. Even a few years at that age counts for a lot. He has won he championship now but could't do it aganst his own age group even though he was in the thick of it. I would say the same goes for Julian Simon and also Nico Terol. Much as I would hate to admit it Repsol Marquez did a stand out job, apart from the fact that Aspar didn't really give Bradley Smith much of a chance with the B spec engine he gave him that year.

To be seen like a dinosaur in the class at just 22 is somehow unfair.Let alone that Talmacsi might also be added in that list, I sustain an idea already put here that maybe is desirable to see moto3 and moto2 as per their own as they were at the beginning and longer after and not only as motoGP sources.
