Dovizioso to undergo surgery
2013 factory Ducati MotoGP rider Andrea Dovizioso is to undergo surgery.

The Italian, taking over countryman Valentino Rossi's Desmosedici seat after rejuvenating his career with six podiums at Tech 3 Yamaha this year, is to have a plate removed from his shoulder.

The metalwork was inserted to help heal a fractured right collarbone, sustained in a motocross accident in January.

Speaking at this weekend's Monza Rally Show, GPone.com quotes Dovizioso as saying he will have the plate removed on December 4, following Ducati's private test at Jerez (from November 28-30) and a charity Supermoto race in aid of the Marco Simoncelli Foundation (December 1-2).

Dovizioso will then have until the opening official test of 2013, at Sepang in early February, to regain fitness.

It's not very pleasant having metal in your body rain and weather extremes can give one a fair bit of pain.
He will feel much better when it's removed.
