Vote for your 2012 MotoGP Rider of the Year

11 December 2012

Whether it was Jorge Lorenzo's second title win, Casey Stoner's decision to call it a day or Valentino Rossi's continued troubles with Ducati, the MotoGP World Championship wasn't short of headlines in 2012.

In a year that saw the return to 1000cc machinery and the introduction of the 'CRT' bikes – effectively creating a two-tier championship -, MotoGP 2012 still managed to offer up the usual blend of thrills, spills, controversies and disputes befitting of its premier motorcycle racing status.

And now, eighteen races later, the time has come for you to tell us who you think deserves to be singled out for praise in our annual MotoGP Rider of the Year poll.

At the top, Lorenzo of course emerged victorious for Yamaha, his second title in three years, but the Spaniard was pushed all the way by countryman Dani Pedrosa, whose seven wins topped his best MotoGP season yet, while Casey Stoner might have fancied his chances of a perfect ending to his glittering career had he not injured himself mid-season.

Then there was Andrea Dovizioso's impressive performance on the satellite Tech 3 Yamaha, Cal Crutchlow's flashes of speed and Alvaro Bautista's run of form in the latter stages of the season. Even Valentino Rossi showed moments of greatness in what would become his final year with Ducati.

The poll is also the perfect chance for you to give the likes of Aleix Espargaro, Randy de Puniet and Michele Pirro some spotlight amongst the prototype riders after their mighty efforts on the slower CRT bikes.

All you need to do is simply rate this year's competitors out of ten based on their respective performances and we'll count down a top ten based on your results later this month.
