Moto2: Simeon happy with SAG move
6 December 2012 By Dexter Fielding
Xavier Simeon will switch from Tech 3 to SAG for the 2013 Moto2 season.
The deal was present in the provisional entry list and has since been confirmed by the team.
The Belgian, 23, has spent the last two years with Tech 3 and is looking forward to using the proven Kalex chassis.
"I am very happy with the project created for the 2013 with the Stop And Go Racing Team of Edu Perales,” he said. “I am highly motivated to ride on a Kalex. It's a company that showed immaculate professional work and the results reflect this.
“On the other side, another motivation to be in the SAG Team structure, is that it's a team that due to the last season's results is eager to reach good results, and this is why I know they will work hard to get our goals."
SAG general manager Edu Perales added: "Having Xavi with us for the 2013 season is great. We have been studying his results closely and he has a big potential, that together with quality work in the box, we can achieve the goals proposed.
"Furthermore we could provide him a Kalex frame, which was second last season and champion in 2011, so this means we have the tools to get what we want."
Simeon was the 2009 European Superstock Champion, but it yet to finish higher than eighth place in a Moto2 race. Simeon finished 22nd overall in this year's Championship.
SAG ran Marcel Schrotter (Bimota) and Marco Colandrea (FTR) for most of last year.
