Lukas Pesek to get last open 2013 MotoGP seat?
By Dexter Fielding

Lukas Pesek is the latest rider to be linked with the last remaining 'to be confirmed' place on the 2013 MotoGP grid.

The ride - on a CRT-spec BMW-Suter at IodaRacing, alongside the retained Danilo Petrucci - was initially earmarked for Roberto Rolfo, but the deal fell through and former MotoGP winner Chris Vermeulen was subsequently reported to have shown an interest.

However Speedweek.de states that negotiations have broken down due to Ioda requiring a pay rider, able to bring around 220,000 euros to the team.

Pesek, a full-time grand prix rider from 2004 until midway through 2010, has now moved into contention.

The Czech's best GP season was in the 2007 125cc championship, when he took six podiums including two wins for fourth overall. Pesek has since raced in the German Superbike and Supersport series.

As well as its expanding CRT MotoGP presence, Ioda will continue in Moto2 next year with new signing Johann Zarco. However Ioda's Moto3 project has been dropped.

I fully understand the need for "pay riders" in the lower classes like WSS, but surely at the supposed pinnacle of the sport, the riders should all be paid a proper wage. I would like to see this ride go to the best available rider not the one wheeling the biggest barrow of cash.

Pesek rode well in 125, actually very well for a couple of years. Ioda is a POS, sorry to say that , people there are god, but to compete in Motogp you need more then that. Some money from a good rider can help I see it as a win win situation, never forget we are talking about CRT not motogp bike
