British MotoGP makes top ten UK attendance list
This year's British MotoGP at Silverstone features in a top ten list of the best attended UK sporting events in 2012 (not including the Olympics/Paralympics) complied by The Telegraph.

The list is summarised as follows:

1. Wimbledon: Tennis 485,000 attendance (13 days).
2. British Grand Prix: F1 297,000 (3 days).
3. Royal Ascot: Horse Racing 280,000 (5 days).
4. ATP World Tour Finals: Tennis 263,000 (8 days).
5. Cheltenham Festival: Horse Racing 237,000 (4 days).
6. The Open: Golf 181,000 (4 days).
7. Burghley Horse Trials: Horse Riding 178,000 (4 days).
8. Epsom Derby Meeting: Horse Racing 160,000 (2 days).
9. Aintree Grand National Meeting: Horse Racing 150,000 (3 days).
10. British MotoGP: MotoGP 146,000 (3 days).

However, dividing the total attendance by the number of days moves F1 to the top of the list and MotoGP to sixth:

1. British F1 Grand Prix: 99,000 per day average.
2. Epsom Derby Meeting: 80,000.
3. Cheltenham Festival: 59,250.
4. Royal Ascot: 56,000.
5. Aintree Grand National Meeting: 50,000.
6. British MotoGP 48,667.
7. The Open: 45,250.
8. Burghley Horse Trials: 44,500.
9. Wimbledon 37,308.
10. ATP World Tour Finals: 32,875.
