The top ten countdown for your MotoGP
Rider of the Year begins with Factory Ducati star Nicky Hayden.
2012 was the first year that Hayden failed to claim at least one MotoGP
podium - but the 2006 world champion kept his head down and often held his own relative to team-mate and seven time champion Valentino Rossi.
Despite the Indianapolis
highside, injuries from which caused Hayden to miss two races, the American was the top Ducati rider in six events and showed impressive speed by beating Rossi 11-6 in qualifying.
Although Ducati's latest developments were focussed around Rossi, Hayden more than proved his worth technically - Rossi switching to a more Hayden style set-up after struggling badly in the early events.
Nevertheless, it was undoubtedly a tough year for all Ducati riders and ninth in the world championship was one place lower than Hayden had finished in 2011.
Hayden also lost one place in your Rider of the Year vote, slipping from ninth (average score 6.00) in 2011, to tenth and an average score of 5.67 this year.
But at least he made your top ten - unlike two 2012 factory riders...Your complete ranking, featuring all full-time 2012 MotoGP riders, will be revealed after the winner is announced on December 31.Do you agree the poll results? Leave your comments below...
