Ducati set to kick-start post-Rossi era

13 January 2013

Ducati will get the ball rolling for the 2013 MotoGP World Championship this week when it launches its Desmosedici GP13 at the Wrooom Press Ski Meeting, the Italian marque eyeing a fresh start with new owners Audi at the helm and without Valentino Rossi on the bike.

Sharing the spotlight with the Ferrari F1 team at the 23rd annual event in the Trentino region of northern Italy, Ducati will officially launch its 2013 MotoGP campaign, where Andrea Dovizioso will come on board in place of Yamaha-bound Rossi and join Nicky Hayden, who enters his fifth season with the manufacturer.

Furthermore, Team Pramac riders Andrea Iannone and Ben Spies will be in attendance at the event in Madonna di Campiglio, their presence indicative of the increased backing Ducati will lend to its satellite team in 2013 as it looks to improve its fortunes on the MotoGP stage.

Dovizioso, Hayden, Iannone and Spies will be present at a press conference on 15th January [Tuesday], before Ducati Corse's new general manager Bernhard Gobmeier takes centre stage to answer questions on the Wednesday.

Also on the Wednesday, the GP13 will be formally unveiled in both Ducati and Pramac colours before they are shipped out to Sepang for the first round of testing on February 5th.

Despite the high-profile signing of Rossi, Ducati has endured a torrid two seasons, picking up just four podiums in total.
