Dorna boss backs Circuit of Wales

Carmelo Ezpeleta 'hopes to bring a MotoGP to the [Circuit of Wales] in 2015 if planners pass the scheme'.
Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta has given his public backing to the proposed Circuit of Wales motorsport complex in the UK.

The £250m project, located near Ebbw Vale, aims to host international motorsport events such as MotoGP, World Superbikes, World Motocross and World Touring Cars.

And, according to the South Wales Argus, Ezpeleta 'hopes to bring a MotoGP to the site in 2015 if planners pass the scheme'.

"It's fantastic,” Ezpeleta is quoted as saying. “I think this is a very, very important programme for MotoGP and for motorsport in general.

“It is good for the area and good for the people and the people behind it will have our help and whatever they need for the programme.

“We have been working with them and we will continue with that. We are more than happy with this programme."

A planning application for the Circuit of Wales is expected 'imminently'.

Silverstone currently hosts the British round of the MotoGP World Championship. The Northamptonshire circuit's present five-year contract expires after 2014.
