Yamaha may leave Austin MotoGP test early
Yamaha may not stay for the third and final day of private MotoGP testing at the new Austin circuit.

Speaking during Tuesday's opening day at the Texan track, team director Massimo Meregalli declared that it was the right choice to join Honda in making the pre-season journey to America, but that they may not need all three of the scheduled days.

"It was definitely a good idea to come here. The track is very difficult to learn, I think it is really special," said Meregalli, whose riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi were third and fifth out of the five manufacturer riders present on day one.

"We are working hard to get a base setting but the most important point is for the riders to get used to the circuit. We've started with our base set-up from Sepang and we'll modify it for this circuit.

"We are on schedule and we will continue working until tomorrow night. If we gather all the information required then we won't stay for Thursday."

The final official MotoGP test - attended by all teams and riders - will be held at Jerez, from March 23-25.

Austin will host round two of this year's MotoGP World Championship.

“I think three or four practices before the race will not be enough to understand it so some of the riders who didn't come here will have a little disadvantage" - Lorenzo. Yeh sounds like you need all the days/hours possible at this test my dude. you must have not yet heard the opinion of your top dog yet. please don't pull the plug too soon.
