Ducati may not have taken part in last week's private MotoGP test at the Circuit of the Americas, but two of its 2013 riders - Nicky Hayden and Ben Spies - were at least able to lap the track on Superbikes earlier this week.

The Americans were present at the new circuit in Austin, Texas, to take part in the launch of Ducati's 1199 Panigale R. COTA will host its first MotoGP race in April, as round two of this year's world championship.

"I think three or four practices before the race will not be enough to understand [the circuit] so some of the riders who didn't come here will have a little disadvantage," warned Yamaha's world champion Jorge Lorenzo during last week's test.

Hayden and Spies will now head to Jerez, Spain for this weekend's final pre-season MotoGP test.
