Moto2: Redding fastest on day two in wet

20 March 2013

Marc VDS Racing's Scott Redding was the fastest man on track on day two of the third and final Moto2 test at Jerez on Tuesday, which was blighted by heavy showers.

The British rider is using the test to run in his new 600cc Honda Moto2 engine but track time was limited on a frustrating day at the Spanish circuit due to the inclement weather.

The majority of Moto2 and Moto3 riders spent much of the day confined to their pit garages in stark contrast to the start of the test on Monday, when blue skies and dry conditions were the order of the day.

Redding's time of 1m 55.082s was almost 12 seconds slower than Toni Elias managed on Monday, with the Italian second fastest for the Blusens Avintia team ahead of Dominic Aegerter.

Mike di Meglio had been the early pacesetter on his JIR Moto2 machine but slipped to fourth ahead of QMMF Racing's Anthony West and Aspar Team Moto2's Nico Terol.

A dry line emerged for the final hour of the test on Tuesday, although few of the Moto2 riders opted to push for a fast time in the combined session.

Rafid Topan Sucipto, Xavier Simeon and Marcel Schrotter completed the top ten for their respective QMMF and Desguaces La Torre outfits.
