Pedrosa had 'nothing to gain' on final day

26 March 2013

Dani Pedrosa had no qualms over sitting out the final day of MotoGP pre-season testing at Jerez.

The Repsol Honda star reasoned that he had 'nothing new to test' in the initially wet conditions and his decision was made simpler after he experienced a return of the neck pain that caused the Spaniard problems in Austin.

Pedrosa will instead rest up as he prepares for the opening round of the 2013 MotoGP World Championship in Qatar, which is now less than two weeks away.

“This morning was sunny but by the time we got to the track the clouds had started to arrive,” he said. “I was discussing the programme for the day with my team and it started to rain.

“We decided that we had nothing new to test in these conditions - even if it started to dry up this afternoon, and we are happy with the machine,” added Pedrosa.

“On top of that, I felt the pain in my neck again yesterday and would prefer to rest it in time for Qatar. We've done a lot of testing this winter and now we are ready to go racing, I can't wait to start the season.”

Pedrosa set his best lap of the final test on Sunday, which left him in fourth position overall at the conclusion of the three-day shakedown.
