MotoGP rookie Andrea Iannone brought his pre-season preparations to a promising end with sixth place, and top Ducati, in testing at Jerez on Monday.
The Pramac rider, who took part in a private Jerez test with Ducati between the two February outings at Sepang, said:
“I am very happy with this test because I'm fast. The test here a few weeks ago helped me and on the first day in the rain I had a very good feeling with my bike.
"In the second day it felt just as good but I pushed a bit too hard and had a crash.
"Today was again very good day because I finished as the first Ducati. That is very important because my goal is to learn more and more and get faster and faster."
Iannone's best lap time put him 0.820s behind pace setter Cal Crutchlow and eighth overall. Factory Ducati star Andrea Dovizioso was just 0.009s quicker courtesy of his day two time.
Iannone's team-mate Ben Spies did not ride on the final day in order to rest his healing shoulder.
Multi-Moto2 race winner Iannone will make his MotoGP race debut at Qatar in April 7.
