Moto3: Salom snatches pole in Qatar

Maverick Vinales' cousin Issac qualified in 13th for Bimbo-Ongetta-Centro Seta, Go&Fun Gresini rider Niccolo Antonelli starts from 14th.

Danny Webb was 15th for Ambrogio Racing, the only team running Suter Hondas this year. Fellow Brit John McPhee set a late personal best for Caretta Technology and starts 20th.

Team Italia teenager Francesco Bagnaia, qualified in 29th place. He is still recovering from fracturing his arm at the final Jerez test just a fortnight ago.

Team Calvo's female rider Ana Carrasco finished her first Losail qualifying session in 23rd and didn't seem troubled by the bike issues which caused her to lose nearly a whole practice session. The Spaniard was around a second and a half quicker than her previous fastest time around the circuit.

Rookie Marc VDS signing Livio Loi is too young to take part this weekend and must wait until he as turned 16, in time for round three at Jerez.
