2012 title runner-up Dani Pedrosa will look to put a disappointing opening round behind him during MotoGP's debut at the Circuit of the America this weekend.
Pedrosa ran second for much of the Losail night race, but was never able to threaten winner Jorge Lorenzo and instead lost out to both rookie team-mate Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi.
Pedrosa was also beaten by Marquez during the three-day private test at COTA in March, although he in turn outpaced the Factory Yamahas.
"Qatar was not the start we expected, but I know what the issue was so it's clear for the next race,” declared Pedrosa, who suffered rear grip issues at Losail.
“We were in Austin just over a month ago and I'm sure this will be useful for us as we have a base setting, there are a lot of tight corners at this track and the pace changes from section to section.
“However, the track will be quite different with so many more bikes there and much more rubber laid down, so I hope the bike will still work well."
Free practice starts on Friday morning.
