COTA quotes

“There is a nice series of corners that mimic the Maggotts-Becketts complex at Silverstone. Some people think this sector is like the Esses at Suzuka, but I think it's more like Silverstone because there aren't the camber changes that you get in the Esses.” - Mark Webber.

"Everything we've asked for they've done and is unbelievable. They've done a super job, I couldn't ask for anything better. It's absolutely fantastic.” - F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone couldn't speak highly enough of the COTA organisers.

“This one in particular looks like it has been really well thought out. I've seen the simulations and definitely the height change in the circuit and the way that some of the corners have been set up with some blind apexes is going to make for some really exciting racing. The tightening set of curves, look very similar to the Japanese circuit of Suzuka and should be a real technical challenge.” - McLaren managing director Jonathan Neale.

“Looking at the layout, it's pretty cool. It's a lot of fast corners, heavy braking and long straights for overtaking.” - Jenson Button.

“It was extremely slippery to start with. The circuit is brand new, but it was quite a lot of fun to slide a couple of corners.” - Pole sitter and eventual world champion Sebastian Vettel.

“The track itself looks spectacular. Here Turn 1 looks amazing, as you cannot even see the apex until you get right to the corner, so finding the right line will be very challenging.” - Inaugural F1 winner Lewis Hamilton.

I believe he was referring to the fact that Kevin was involved with the design of the track and was the original promoter of MotoGP at the track. Then CoTA screwed him out of the promoter deal. They even went so far as to kick him out of the track during the test session and ban him from the track.
