Pedrosa takes Texas 'momentum' to Jerez

30 April 2013

Dani Pedrosa will be looking to break out of the shadow of countrymen Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez during this weekend's home Spanish round at Jerez.

Triple title runner-up Pedrosa arrives third in the early 2013 standings, but beaten by rookie Repsol Honda team-mate Marquez in both events so far this season.

A similar defeat in front of their home fans would be especially painful and Pedrosa will instead be aiming to replicate his 2008 MotoGP home win.

"Even though I missed out on the victory in Austin, we take many positives from the weekend,” insisted Pedrosa, who lost out on victory by 1.5s to Marquez in Texas. “I am happy as we have reduced the gap to the leaders and I have recovered the good feelings that we had in pre-season.

“Now we head to Jerez, which is one of my favourite circuits to race at. The atmosphere there is amazing and the fans are very passionate. The weather wasn't good for us in testing there a month ago, but it's a track we know well.

“We will look to continue with the momentum we left Austin and work hard from the first practice session to give ourselves the best chances for the race."

Yamaha's Lorenzo - winner in Qatar - and Marquez are presently tied for the title lead, eight points clear of Pedrosa.
